Harper Adams Summer School

Harper Adams University College are hosting over 40 Year 11 students from the West Midlands for their Summer School as part of the Government’s Aim Higher Scheme. The scheme aims to give young people, that are considering going to university, the opportunity to get a taste of what college life is like.

On the First day of the Summer School, Harper Adams brought a number of the students over to the Adventure Rope Course at Albrighton, just north of Shrewsbury, for a bit of an ice breaking session. The Climbing Wall started to get them used to ropes and heights before the brave dared to launch themselves off the Leap of Faith. Exploring the Adventure Tunnels on hands and knees shifted the focus away from heights for a while before stepping out of the top of the tower on the Parachute Simulator.

To finish off the afternoon, we had a go on the latest addition to the activities at the Adventure Rope Course. The Giant Swing looks frightening enough from the ground, but goes onto another plane once you’re sat in it and winched back. However, it has quickly become a real favourite with groups and today was no exception.

Thanks to the guys from Harper Adams for arranging the visit, and a very big thanks to the students that got stuck in. I hope you have a great week at the College.
