Shrewsbury High School at the Adventure Rope Course

Today I found myself down at the Adventure Rope Course again. This time working with a group of girls from Shrewsbury High School. The 50 or so girls had spent the morning doing work towards their DofE (Duke of Edinburgh) Award, and were being rewarded with a couple of hours at the Adventure Rope Course.

With this many girls, we had 5 instructors supervising 5 different activities as the groups circulated around during their visit. I spent the afternoon manning the Crate Stack, but we also had the Jacob’s Ladder, Leap of Faith, Adventure Tunnels, Parachute Simulator and the Giant Swing in operation.

The Crate Stack is a fantastic activity for keeping lots of people busy, but only takes 3 people actually on the ‘stack’ at a time. As a result, in order to give all the girls a fair chance, we needed to be fairly strict with the timekeeping. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how high some of the groups managed to build their Crate Stack in the time available.
