Archery at Prestfelde

Jul 6th, 2010 | By | Category: Archery

You may have noticed that Archery is not listed on my main website. So why am I doing archery sessions? Well, the fact is that I am a qualified Archery Leader with the Grand National Archery Society but I don’t have my own equipment. As a result, I don’t find myself running session very often and hence don’t advertise it on the site. However, Archery was on offer today at the Prestfelde summer school, along with ultimate frisbee, bushcraft cooking, and water polo.

As it turned out, the kit I was going to be using was brand new. In fact, everything was still wrapped and boxed and needed to be assembled. This certainly put a bit of pressure on to be ready in time for the first session! Although I didn’t quite manage to get everything sorted as much as I would have liked in the time available, I did get it to a point where we could shoot safely.

The fact that I hadn’t had chance to get the nocking points onto the strings, and the supplier had sent the wrong arrow rests, meant that the kids found it a bit more awkward than normal but they coped very well and many were getting rather good by the end.
