Prestfelde on the Jacob’s Ladder

I’ve done quite a lot of work with pupils from Prestfelde school in Shrewsbury in the past, so it was quite nice to see some familiar faces this afternoon. I’d been asked to run an hour’s session on the Jacob’s Ladder at the Adventure Rope Course for 8 pupils during an after school activity slot. They had all been to the Adventure Rope Course before, so were familiar with the set up and general safety rules, which certainly made life that bit easier for me.

The Jacob’s Ladder is very much a team activity as success certainly depends on how much the group work together and, at times, put others before themselves. Being relatively young and lacking in height, I let them use a sling which could be used in a number of ways to help them make progress up the ladder.

Even so, one or two groups had trouble even getting off the ground, which was a source of a great deal of laughter! However, after a certain amount of perseverance and advice, from those on the ground, all the reams managed to make progress and have some fun in the meantime.
