Duke of Edinburgh Award

Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme AAP (Approved Activity Provider)The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) provides young people between the ages of 14 and 24 with the opportunity to gain recognition for their commitment and 'get up and go'.

Young people can choose to do their DofE at three levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold), and involves volunteering in the community, getting fitter, learning new skills, going on an expedition and taking part in a residential activity (Gold only). Exactly what you do in each section is up to you, so you can choose the things that are of particular interest to you.

As employers have become more aware of what a DofE award says about the young person who has achieved it, individuals and schools have become increasingly keen to get involved with DofE. The fact that it gives participants the chance to learn new skills, make new friends and have fun along the way is a fantastic bonus!

As an Approved Activity Provider (AAP) for the DofE, we are delighted to be able to provide all elements of the expedition section of the award – the very section that schools and businesses tend to find more difficult to administer. We can provide complete packages for schools and small businesses, open awards or help to deliver a programme you already have running.

Duke of Edinburgh Venues

Duke of Edinburgh groups should select an area for their expedition that is compatible with the aim that they have chosen. It's all part of their planning and taking ownership of their venture. As a result, we try not to dictate thae areas that groups should use, and give groups as much flexibility as we can.

However, the areas that we tend to find lend themselves best to Duke of Edinburgh expeditions include the Shropshire Hills AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), the Berwyns, Glyn Ceiriog, Llantysilio Mountain and the Snowdonia National Park.
