It’s really nice to read a post about paddling one of the UK’s rivers. There are not enough of them. The spot you chose to paddle obviously misses the Severn Bore.

Martin,

I have just noticed this blog and it was great to explore new venues even if it didn’t produce much in the way of positive results. However, the cookies were nice and I didn’t have to drive so that was an added bonus.

I would just like to thank Martin for his support, tuition and advice on navigation. I had a really good couple of days out learning how to read the map and with a focus on contours, which is something I have struggled with in the past.

On the second day things really started to make more and more sense to me, so now I just need to get out on the hills and practice as much as possible, the Long Mynd & Church Stretton will be my location for a few trips out.

My only regret is that I didn’t do this 2 day course a long time ago. To anyone thinking about attending a navigation course, just do it, even better book something with Martin as his approach and teaching skills are excellent, just what I needed to boost my knowledge of navigation!

Thank you Martin, what a fabulous two days. Learnt loads and had a great time (even in the rain). Getting to know the area the other side of the A49 from Church Stretton was a boon as I’d not explored that area before. The Breiddens were glorious and I thoroughly enjoyed the company.

The kids had a phenomenal time. Robert will probably say that it was one of the highlights of the trip for him! I was most impressed watching Martin interact with the kids on this course–he truly has a gift for leading these activities. It was a treat to watch him at work. Thank you SO much for making such a special day for us!
