Shrewsbury High School at the Adventure Rope Course

This afternoon, we hosted 49 girls from Shrewsbury High School at the Adventure Rope Course. The visit was a reward for the successful completion of their Bronze DofE assessed expedition, which they managed to complete yesterday. As a result, there were some fairly tired looking girls among them, and a few aches and pains as well.

With the numbers involved, we had 5 groups rotating between the Adventure Tunnels and Parachute Simulator, Jacobs Ladder, Leap of Faith, Giant Swing and the High All Aboard. There were one or two that were a bit reluctant to leave the ground, but I was impressed that almost everyone had a go at things. We’re very keen at the Adventure Rope Course to encourage people to push their limits just a little bit, but always want people to feel free to say ‘that’s enough’. In many ways, there’s a greater sense of achievement in seeing one person push themselves to 5 or 6 feet before returning to the ground, than in seeing lots race to the top and jump off in complete confidence.

The girls were great fun to spend the afternoon with and fantastic at encouraging and supporting each other. Thanks for letting us be part of it, and congratulations to you all for completing your expeditions.
