Very Wet Archery at Prestfelde

Today was the last day of the 2 week summer school at Prestfelde Preparatory School in Shrewsbury. During that time, I’ve been there most days either doing some of the normal variety of activities I offer or helping out with general fun and games.

Having done some archery with them last week, the plan for today was to create more of a competitive edge to it. I had a number of games and challenges planned that could be scored in teams as part of a bigger final day competition. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans! Although there is major reason not to shoot in the wet, standing in the rain is not generally seen as a particularly fun thing to do.

Boy did it chuck it down! We thought we’d spotted a gap in the weather, but it was obviously just enough to lure us outside before the heavens opened again. We stuck with it for a while, but after 45 minutes or so it was getting beyond a joke and we retreated back indoors.

Looking for a drier alternative, we had an improvised tug of war contest which the girls’ team won (much to the annoyance of the others!). Finally, we challenged some French students on a language school at Prestfelde to a huge game of Dodgeball which went down a treat. Although not in the plan, this turned out to be the ideal way to finish a great couple of weeks.

Enjoy the rest of the holiday guys.
